Can I switch payroll for my household help during the year?
Yes. Your household stays the employer, and the year so far comes with you: your Helper's start date, the wages paid and the holidays taken. With Helpore Admin, Helpore files with the offices in your name, under one power of attorney you sign by hand. With Helpore Admin Light, Helpore prepares, and you file and pay.
What comes with you
You enter these once in setup.
- First day of the employment
- Your Helper keeps the real start date. There is no new probation period, and years of service, and so the notice period, count from that day.
- Gross wages paid this year
- From your earlier payslips. They count toward the 2026 limits of the simplified procedure: CHF 22’680 a year per employee and CHF 60’480 a year for the household. They are not paid again. The pension fund threshold (CHF 22’680 a year) is checked on the wage for the whole year.
- Holidays already taken
- The days your Helper took this year are subtracted, so the balance left is right.
- Registration with the compensation office
- Your employer account number stays, so you do not register again.
- Accident insurance
- Your existing policy stays, with its insurer, number and notice period, so you need no second policy.
- Extra hours
- Extra hours your Helper worked and has not yet taken off or been paid for stay on the balance.
- The year's settlement procedure
- Your household keeps the procedure, simplified or ordinary, that the compensation office has for it this year.
What stays behind
Helpore prepares your payroll from your first month with Helpore. The months before stay with whoever ran them: your previous service, or you if you ran the payroll yourself, declares them and prepares their salary certificate. Their wages still count toward this year's limits.
Switching at the start of a year
At the start of a year there are no wages or holidays of the new year to declare yet, and the new limits apply from the first day.
Give written notice
Check the notice period in your contract with your previous service. Then tell it in writing that its mandate ends on 31 December 2026.
Have your papers ready
Keep the December payslip, the salary certificate for the year that ended, your employer account number and your accident policy.
Your first month with Helpore
From 1 January 2027, Helpore prepares your payroll. The new year's wages count toward the new limits.
The year that ended
Your previous service declares that year's months and prepares its salary certificate. Ask for both when you end its mandate.
Your switching plan
Pick your first month with Helpore and who ran the payroll before. You get your steps with dates, ready to print.
Was your Helper employed by an agency? Then the agency was the employer, and a new employment starts with your household. If an agency only ran your household's payroll, it ends like any other previous service.
Your steps
- Check the notice period in your contract with your previous service, then give written notice that its mandate ends on 30 November 2026.
- By 30 November 2026: gather this year's payslips, your employer account number and your accident policy.
- By 30 November 2026: enter the details in setup and choose your plan. Choose your plan
- 1 December 2026: Helpore prepares your first month.
What to bring
Helpore asks for these in setup. Most are on your earlier payslips and policy papers.
- Date this employment first started
- Gross wage already paid this year
- Holiday days already taken this year
- Who ran the payroll before
- Extra hours from before Helpore, not yet taken as time off or paid
- Your employer account number at the compensation office
- Insurer of the existing policy
- Policy number
- Notice period of the policy
- The year's settlement procedure
Ending the old mandate
Ask Helpore for the letter, if you like
Helpore prepares the cancellation letter and the data request. You sign and send them; Helpore never contacts your previous service.
Give notice in writing
Tell your previous service in writing that its mandate ends the day before your first month with Helpore, so the same wages are not declared twice.
Ran the payroll yourself? There is nothing to end.

Questions about switching
What happens to the wages I already paid this year?
Helpore never pays them again. Their gross wages count toward this year's limits, and the months stay with whoever ran them.
Does my Helper start a new probation period after the switch?
No. A continued employment has no new probation period. Notice counts the years from the real start date.
Who files the months before I switch to Helpore?
Whoever ran them, your previous service or you, declares them and prepares their salary certificate. Ask your service for both when you end its mandate. The salary certificate Helpore prepares covers your months with Helpore.
I did the payroll myself. Can I still switch?
Yes, and there is no mandate to end. Bring your payslips, your employer account number and your accident policy, and Helpore prepares your payroll from your first month with Helpore.
Does my Helper have to do anything?
No. Your Helper keeps the same employer, start date and holidays. Your Helper can start without an account and pays no Helpore fee.
How is the first fee charged when I switch during the year?
One full month or one full year of the plan you choose, counted from the day your billing starts. It is never charged pro rata, and nothing is charged for the months before.I start in the middle of a month or a year. What is my first fee?
Can I end the plan later?
Yes. You cancel on the web or in the app, and your plan's notice period applies. Cancelling ends Helpore's administration, not your Helper's employment. How do I cancel Helpore Admin or Helpore Admin Light?
