Do I really have to pay AHV for a cleaner?

Yes. Anyone who works in your home for wages is your employee under Swiss law, from the first franc. The compensation office expects the contributions and audits households. For small wage bills you may use the simplified settlement procedure, up to CHF 22,680 a year per person, and the wage still has to be declared.

AHV, IV, EO and ALV are split evenly between you and your Helper: their half is deducted from the wage, your half comes on top. The family allowance contribution and the compensation office administration cost are yours alone.

Why is accident insurance not in the total?

Because it is priced per policy, not by a public rate. Accident cover is mandatory for every household employee, and from eight hours a week non occupational cover is mandatory as well. Each household holds its own policy; Helpore arranges the conditions.

Is this calculator exact?

The social contributions run through the same payroll engine as Helpore's real monthly payrolls, at the published 2026 rates and your canton's own family allowance rate. Source tax and insurance premiums are left out because they depend on details this tool does not ask for.

The federal minimum for household work is CHF 20.35 an hour in Zurich. Helpers booked through Helpore set their own rate, never below CHF 26.00 an hour.

At 8 hours a week, non occupational accident cover is mandatory for this Helper.
