Questions and answers

Can my household use the simplified procedure?
In 2026, only if each person you employ earns CHF 22’680 or less with you, and all wages together stay within CHF 60’480. A company or a cooperative cannot use it. The ordinary procedure is open to every employer.
Which insurance do I take out for my Helper?
Accident insurance, in every case: you take it out as the employer, and from 8 hours a week it covers accidents outside work too. Pension cover comes in above a yearly wage of CHF 22’680, depending on age. Whether you need daily sickness insurance depends on your canton.
Where do I register, and by when?
With the compensation office of the canton you live in. In the simplified procedure, if you are not yet registered with an office, you register within 30 days of the first working day. You declare the wages of 2026 by 30 January 2027.
Do I need daily sickness insurance?
It depends on the standard employment contract for household work in the canton where your Helper works. In Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Bern, Geneva, Jura, Lucerne, Nidwalden, St. Gallen, Schaffhausen, Solothurn, Thurgau, Uri, Valais and Zurich, it requires the insurance, some only from a certain workload or contract length. In Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Fribourg, Glarus, Grisons, Neuchâtel, Schwyz, Ticino, Vaud and Zug, it does not. In Obwalden, a full-time Helper holds the insurance, and you check it.
Who registers and pays, me or Helpore?
Your household is the employer in every case. Helpore Admin is optional. With Helpore Admin Light, you register and pay yourself. With Helpore Admin, Helpore registers and pays from your funds, in your name.
