Swiss household employment
Also written: Mutterschaftsentschädigung · Allocation de maternité · Indennità di maternità
The maternity allowance pays a portion of the wage for fourteen weeks after birth, financed through the EO contribution that is collected with the AHV. It applies to employees who were insured and working for the required period before the birth.
Because the EO contribution is already part of what you pay with the AHV, the cover exists for the person you employ without any separate policy. The allowance is paid by the compensation office, not by the household.
You are the employer. Helpore prepares the contract, files the declarations and produces the payslip in your name.
The allowance replaces a portion of it and is paid by the compensation office. What you owe beyond that depends on the contract.
It can. The conditions concern the insurance period and employment before the birth, not the number of hours.
