Opfikon, :

Mothers in Switzerland working full time (90 to 100%) report 17.1 hours a week of cooking, cleaning and laundry. Fathers working full time report 11.0, a difference of 6.1 hours. Helpore added up the three tasks from the Federal Statistical Office's 2024 Swiss Labour Force Survey data, published on 4 June 2025. The averages describe separate groups, not partners in one household. In both groups, the youngest child is under 15.

The debate about work and family cannot stop at childcare. Cooking, cleaning and laundry take hours every week, and these figures show the gap even among parents working full time. That work deserves to be visible.
