What does your Helper really cost?
Enter the canton, the hours and the wage you agreed. You get the gross wage, the deductions from the Helper's pay, the contributions you owe as the employer and the net that lands in their account. It uses the same published 2026 rates as Helpore's real payrolls, so these are the figures you would be billed on.

Estimated rate. Your compensation office or insurer may set a different one.
The federal minimum for household work is CHF 20.35 an hour in Zurich. Helpers booked through Helpore set their own rate, never below CHF 24.55 an hour.
Holidays are paid as time off inside the monthly wage, already part of the figures above.
At 8 hours a week, non occupational accident cover is mandatory for this Helper.
What this figure does and does not include
- AHV, IV and EO at the published 2026 rates, half from the Helper and half from you
- ALV at the published 2026 rate, split the same way
- The family allowance contribution of your canton, which only the employer pays
- The administration cost the compensation office charges on top
- Accident insurance: the occupational premium, and from 8 hours a week the non occupational premium, as Helpore's estimate until your insurer's conditions are in Helpore
- In the simplified procedure, the flat source tax of 5%, deducted from your Helper's wage, when the yearly wage stays within that procedure's limits
- Source tax outside the simplified procedure, which depends on your Helper's nationality, permit and tariff
- Pension contributions, which start once the yearly wage passes the entry threshold

Common questions
- Do I really have to pay AHV for a cleaner?
- Yes. Anyone who works in your home for wages is your employee under Swiss law, from the first franc. The compensation office expects the contributions and audits households. For small wage bills you may use the simplified settlement procedure, up to CHF 22’680.00 a year per person, and the wage still has to be declared.
- Who pays which half?
- AHV, IV, EO and ALV are split evenly between you and your Helper: their half is deducted from the wage, your half comes on top. The family allowance contribution and the compensation office administration cost are yours alone.
- How is accident insurance counted?
- The total includes the occupational accident premium, and from 8 hours a week the non occupational premium as well. As the policy holder, you pay both premiums. Until your insurer's conditions are in Helpore, both are Helpore's estimate, and your policy may set a different amount.
- Is this calculator exact?
- The social contributions run through the same payroll engine as Helpore's real monthly payrolls, at the published 2026 rates and your canton's own family allowance rate. The accident premiums are Helpore's estimate until your insurer's conditions are in Helpore. When the yearly wage stays within the simplified procedure's limits, the flat source tax of 5% is deducted from your Helper's wage; ordinary source tax is left out, because it depends on details this tool does not ask for.
