Swiss household employment
Also written: NBU · AANP · AINP
Swiss accident insurance has two parts. Occupational accident cover (BU) protects the worker while working and is mandatory for every employee from the first hour. Non occupational cover (NBU) protects them in the rest of their life, at home, in traffic, in sport, and becomes mandatory once the person works eight hours a week or more for the same employer.
Below eight hours a week your Helper is covered for accidents outside work by their own health insurance, and you owe nothing for NBU. From eight hours a week the NBU premium is due and is usually deducted from the Helper's wage, which is allowed. Helpore books the cover from the effective hours and shows it on the payslip.
You are the employer. Helpore prepares the contract, files the declarations and produces the payslip in your name.
The premium rates Helpore applies:
By default the employee, through a deduction from the wage. The employer may choose to bear it instead. The occupational part is always the employer's.
The eight hour test is applied to the actual hours. Helpore recalculates it from the confirmed hours each month, so cover starts and stops with the work.
