Swiss household employment
Also written: KTG · AMC · AMC
KTG (Krankentaggeldversicherung) pays a portion of the wage while an employee is off sick. Unlike accident insurance it is not compulsory under federal law. Without it the employer owes continued wage payment for a period that grows with the years of service, under the scale their canton applies.
You can either carry the wage continuation risk yourself or insure it. Most households insure it once the arrangement is regular, because a long illness otherwise lands entirely on the household.
You are the employer. Helpore prepares the contract, files the declarations and produces the payslip in your name.
No, not federally. But without it you owe continued wage payment yourself, so the risk does not disappear, it just sits with you.
It grows with years of service under the cantonal scale, starting at three weeks in the first year.
