Swiss household employment
Also written: Ferienentschädigung · Indemnité de vacances · Indennità di vacanza
Employees in Switzerland are entitled to at least four weeks of paid holiday a year, and five weeks up to the year they turn 20. For work paid by the hour, the entitlement is often settled as a percentage supplement on top of the hourly wage instead of paid time off.
Either you grant the time off and keep paying, or you add the supplement to each hour and the person takes unpaid time. The supplement must be shown separately on the payslip; rolling it silently into the hourly rate is not lawful.
You are the employer. Helpore prepares the contract, files the declarations and produces the payslip in your name.
The supplement that matches the statutory entitlement:
No. The holiday portion has to be identified separately, otherwise it does not count as holiday pay at all.
Four weeks corresponds to the standard supplement; five weeks, for young employees, corresponds to the higher one.
