Swiss household employment
Also written: Kantonaler Mindestlohn · Salaire minimum cantonal · Salario minimo cantonale
Switzerland has no national minimum wage. Five cantons have voted one in: Geneva, Basel Stadt, Jura, Neuchâtel and Ticino. Where it exists it applies to every employment relationship worked in the canton, household work included, and it follows the place of work: where the worker or the employer lives does not matter.
If your home is in one of these cantons, the higher of the cantonal minimum and the federal domestic work floor is the least you may pay. Helpore applies whichever is higher to every booking and contract at your address, and a Helper cannot publish a rate below it for your area.
You are the employer. Helpore prepares the contract, files the declarations and produces the payslip in your name.
The 2026 hourly minimums, and the federal floor they sit above:
No. It depends on where the work is done. A Helper commuting in from Vaud or from France to a Geneva household is owed the Geneva minimum.
The federal standard contract for domestic work sets the floor there, graded by qualification. Some cities set their own minimum above it; see the entry on municipal minimum wages.
