## Reference population

Permanent residents aged 15 or over living in households with an adult aged 18 or over who needs particular care. The averages include everyone in each age group within those households, not only active carers.

## Age group

The two groups compared are age 65 or over and age 15 to 64.

## Measure

Mean weekly time looking after, helping or transporting an adult needing particular care in the same household. It does not mean nursing alone or general housework.
