# Data dictionary

This file describes the four Eurostat observations retained in Helpore's Swiss home care analysis.

| `observation` | National comparison or 2024 group comparison. |
| `year` | Eurostat observation year. |
| `group` | Total measured population, at risk of poverty or social exclusion, or not at risk. |
| `value_percent` | Percentage naming financial reasons as the main reason for not receiving paid home care, or not receiving more. |
| `unit` | Percent. |
| `geography` | Switzerland. |
| `reason` | Financial reasons as the main reason. |
| `population` | People living in households where at least one person needs help because of long term physical or mental ill health, infirmity or old age. Temporary recovery needs are excluded. |
| `source_url` | Exact Eurostat API query for the observation. |

The 2016 and 2024 national observations are compared descriptively. The 2024 group observations are a cross sectional comparison. They are not a time trend between poverty groups.
