# Data definitions

One row for each canton, for recipients abroad and for all cantons plus abroad, per birth year from 2020 to 2024, and one row for the latest birth year, provisional and only for all cantons plus abroad.

- `canton_code`: canton number of the source table (1 Zurich to 26 Jura), ABROAD for recipients living abroad, ALL for all cantons plus abroad · unit: code
- `canton`: name as written in the source table · unit: text
- `year`: birth year of the child · unit: year
- `status`: final, or provisional for the latest birth year, which the file gives only as the total for all cantons plus abroad · unit: text
- `maternity_recipients`: people who drew maternity leave from the EO for a child born in that year · unit: people
- `other_parent_recipients`: people who drew other-parent leave from the EO for a child born in that year; empty before 2021 · unit: people
- `other_parent_per_100_maternity`: other-parent recipients per 100 maternity recipients, one decimal, computed by the study · unit: ratio
- `maternity_avg_days`: average number of days of maternity allowance per recipient · unit: days
- `other_parent_avg_days`: average number of days of other-parent allowance per recipient · unit: days
- `maternity_avg_daily_chf`: average daily maternity allowance per recipient · unit: CHF
- `other_parent_avg_daily_chf`: average daily other-parent allowance per recipient · unit: CHF
